About the Mandala Cemetery
The Mandala Cemetery at Veil Parasol Temple is a consecrated sacred ground established according to the geometric principles of the Buddhist mandala — a symbolic representation of the enlightened cosmos. Unlike conventional burial grounds, the Mandala Cemetery is a living spiritual environment continuously blessed by the prayers, rituals, and merit generated at our temple.
Interred within this sacred mandala, the departed rest at the spiritual center of ongoing Buddhist practice, continually bathed in the merit of ceremonies and the compassionate intentions of the temple community.
Spiritual Significance
The mandala form represents the pure realm of an enlightened being, with the center representing the principal deity and the surrounding quadrants representing the retinue of bodhisattvas and protectors. Regular ceremonies conducted at the temple — including Homa fire offerings, light offerings, and sutra chanting — generate merit dedicated to all beings interred at the cemetery.
